The flow of things or private property? A house and its objects between family life, resource management and museum.

The research association investigates the family house and its objects as an intersection between family life, resource management and museum. Here the focus is on material culture, both in its customary use as well as with regard to social change: the diversification in types of living and housing and the ecological task of sustainability condition and demand deep-going changes in the cultural, natural and technical-material basis of life. In order to measure the potential and the limits of present-day forms of living and housing in the family house, the research association links expertises on material and cultural facts. In two case studies, newly built family houses and the use of existing homes are comparatively researched; in addition, as examples, we analyse two object groups in circulation: furniture and electric appliances. As well as publications, a new exhibition in 2018 will present the results for all those interested.
